A Place for Me

A Place for Me is a free resource center for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. It provides a safe space for this population and provides resources and supports to increase inclusion and support growth and learning. Examples of what is provided:
- Age Appropriate support connection
- support with strengthening Reading and Writing skills
- Connections to resources such as IEP guidance
- legal advice specific to individuals with Special Needs
- assistance in applying for services
- connection on other needs for individuals
PIC: Circle Time
A Place for me is open Mondays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 and Saturdays from 9-12. Updated calendars can be found at: https://charity.pledgeit.org/aplaceforme
Mondays are age specific meet ups as defined below:
- Happy Hour Hangout (16+) a great night for older teens and adults to connect and enjoy activities and meals together
- These two nights are geared towards the preschool and school age groups, with fun activities, circle time, and snacks together.
- These two nights are geared towards the preschool and school age groups, with fun activities, circle time, and snacks together.
- Mini Marvels is a night for our newer families. A chance for parents and little ones to connect and support each other for those first few years of life.
PIC: Adult Night
Thursdays are designed to support literacy for all ages, offering reading time and focus on other subjects as needed. A great chance to receive extra support and learn the best way to help support your loved one with success in literacy.
Saturdays change each week as articulated below:
- Art day for the family
- Support Day (this is changes between Sibling support (odd months) and Autism support (even months))
- Move your Body: what makes exercise more fun? Doing it with friends
- Resource Day: Come learn about different resources each month to help support your journey.
